Siobhan Coady, MP Works and Learns

MP for St. John’s South–Mount Pearl visits North Atlantic’s Orange Store in Mount Pearl, NL and helps serve customers.

On Wednesday, May 19, 2010 MP Siobhan Coady worked two hours in the afternoon serving and meeting customers at this busy retail location.  She managed a variety of transactions including ringing in sales of lottery tickets and popular products sold at this convenience store.

Many customers recognized the MP and took the opportunity to talk about various issues relating to the community in general.  It was the first time that a Member of Parliament has worked in a C-Store and the experience was positive for all.  Convenience stores are the hub of the communities which they serve across Canada and a great place to better understand local issues from those directly impacted.  MP Coady took full advantage of this special opportunity.

The Atlantic Convenience Stores Association thanked the MP for making the time and giving her personal attention to many of the issues being faced by convenience store operators.  They especially respected her efforts to experience what it takes to be a successful convenience store operator - hands on.
